THE BAYVIEW WIND FARM NEAR PORT ELIZABETH, EASTERN CAPE PROVINCE (DEFF Reference Number: 14/12/16/3/3/2/1055).

FINAL AMENDED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT (EIR)

Bayview Wind Power (Pty) Ltd. is proposing the development of a wind farm on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth. The Bayview Wind Farm will host a maximum of forty (40) turbines, with a potential net generating output capacity of one hundred and forty (140) megawatts (MW). The Bayview Wind Farm is being proposed at 33°39'56.63“ S, 25°40'1.04“ E (central point) on the Remaining Extent (RE) of Portion 8 of Ebb & Vloed (Farm 230), the RE of Oliphants Kop (Farm 201) and Portion 4 of Steins Valley (Farm 202). Due to the Listing Notice 2 activities, the proposed Bayview Wind Farm triggers a Scoping and EIA Process. This process was undertaken between October 2017 and September 2018, and the proposed Bayview Wind Farm Application received an EA on the 4th of February 2019. During the Appeals Period on the Bayview Wind Farm EA, Grassridge Wind Power (Pty) Ltd. appealed the EA. Due to the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries’ decision, dated the 14th of October 2019, on the Appeal against the Bayview Wind Farm EA, the Bayview Wind Farm EA has been set aside and the Applicant was directed to commission an independent expert to conduct a Wake Impact Assessment. CES has been appointed to amend the original EIR (Bayview Wind Farm Final EIR, EOH CES, 26 September 2018) to include the findings of the Independent External Wake Impact Assessment Report (3E, 12 March 2020 and 05 November 2020).

The Final Amended Bayview Wind Farm Environmental Impact Report (EIR) has been submitted to the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF).
