The proposed Breidbach mixed use development and service station will be located in the suburb of Breidbach near King Williams Town within the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM), Province of the Eastern Cape. The site has access via the National Route 2 from East London to King Williams Town, intersection approximately 50Km from East London (Figure 1). The properties that form part of the development are Erfs 447 and 34.
The proposed total development of 22.5 Ha will include;
The above-mentioned development activities trigger listed activities in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA 107 of 1998) Regulations of 2014, as amended, (Listing Notice 1 and 3) and as such requires the completion of a Basic Assessment process. A Water Use License Application (WULA) may also be required by the Department of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation (DHSWS) in terms of the National Water Act (Act No. 36 of 1999). Coastal and Environmental Services (Pty) Ltd (CES) has been appointed as the Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to undertake the Basic Assessment for the proposed Breidbach mixed use development and service station.
