The fact that many heavy minerals mining project
proponents appoint CES is an indication that we are
recognised as one of the world’s leading authorities
in carrying out complex Environmental Impact
Assessments (EIAs) associated with the mining of
coastal sand dunes for heavy minerals. Mining
coastal sand dunes tends to result in large scale
environmental and social impacts, which often
provokes considerable emotional response from
society in general. Therefore, these EIAs need to be
carried out with extreme rigour.
CES draws on a broad skills base within the company
and we have an excellent working relationship with a
number of highly qualified associates to ensure that
all specialist work is of the highest standard and
carried out both timeously and within budget.
We have a long association with heavy mineral mining
in Africa, and have to date worked on large projects
in South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Madagascar and
Egypt. The fact that international lenders such as
the World Bank and the International Finance
Corporation recognise CES’s work as being beyond
reproach ensures that the large mining companies
continue to approach CES as the preferred
Environmental Consultant for this type of project.
