SANRAL SOC Ltd UPGRADE OF NATIONAL ROAD R516 SECTION 1 
FROM R511 (KM 0.00) TO TOOYSPRUIT (KM 36.67),
LIMPOPO PROVINCE

SANRAL proposes to upgrade National Route R516 Section 1 (R516-01), starting from KM 0.0 at the R511 intersection to Thabazimbi running eastwards towards Bela Bela, ending at KM 36.67, approximately 4 km before the Tooyspruit River crossing. The project route falls across several farm portions within the Thabazimbi Local Municipality in the greater Waterberg District, Limpopo Province.

As per the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) regulations of 2014 (as amended), the SANRAL R516 project requires an Environmental Authorisation, from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and WUA application to the Department of Human Settlement, Water and Sanitation (DHSWS), respectively. The triggered activities are listed under Listing Notices 1 & 3 (published in Government Notices No. R 983 and No. R 985 respectively), and as such, the BA process needs to be followed.
