Mrs Cheryl Avis,
Corporate Affairs Director, has extensive experience
in finance over the years with a focus on
corporate banking. She has been a Certified
Associate of the Institute of Bankers for 20
years. She was awarded a full university
scholarship by First National Bank and
obtained a B.Com with Distinction from
Rhodes University in 1987. She later
completed a B.A. (Hons) with distinction in
1992 and went on to complete her Masters
with distinction in 1995. Thereafter Cheryl
performed session work at the local
psychiatric hospital and ran a full practice
as a Clinical Psychologist. In 1996 she
decided to close her practice in order to
take care of her new born son. In 1998
Cheryl assisted with the financial set-up of
CES as a close corporation and became
increasingly involved in the financial
direction thereof. Cheryl has also lectured
at Rhodes University, and is an associate of
the Psychological Care Centre in Donkin
Street, Grahamstown. She is married with two
sons born 1996 and 2002.

Mrs Bernadette Emslie, Financial
Director, holds a B.Comm (Accounting) degree
(Rhodes). Worked for over 7 years for
Bethlehem Export cc, who at the time was one
of the top exporters in South Africa of
fresh asparagus. Was involved in running all
aspects of the operations. At the same time
she was made a member of the Close
Corporation that owned lands with fresh
asparagus that was picked, packed or canned
for local or export. After starting her
family in 2002 & no longer wanting to
travel, she started her own accounting
business in Grahamstown which managed large
payrolls, accounting & tax consulting. In
August 2005 she joined CES as the Financial
Manager and in August 2010 was promoted to
Financial Director

branch director. Dee has extensive

Prof Roy Lubke, is a retired
Associate Professor in the Department of
Botany, Rhodes University, and retired
Director of Coastal & Environmental
Services. He contributed to the preparation
of the SA Association of Botanists
vegetation map by mapping the vegetation in
a large part of the Eastern Cape. Professor
Lubke has been involved in numerous EIAs and
has extensive experience in ecological and
vegetation studies and the identification of
indicators for SoERs.
