Moneyline 1082 CC is proposing the construction of a mixed-use development in the remainder of Erf 271, East London, in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality in the Eastern Cape Province. The proponent has appointed CES as an independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to manage the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.
The proposed Summerpride Mixed-Use Development (18 hectares) lies between the existing suburbs of Summerpride and Dawn, North of the N2 from King Williams Town to East London, adjacent to Voortrekker Road, and north of a main railway line. The activity includes the establishment of a mixed-use development including high density residential apartments and a business centre.
The development necessitates an environmental Basic Assessment for approval by the Department of Economic Development, Environment Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT) as the competent authority. The aforementioned development was previously granted environmental authorisation in 2015, however, it has lapsed and it has become necessary to re-apply under the new legislation.
