NOTIFICATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION GRANTED FOR THE PROPOSED INSTALLATION OF A TELECOMMUNICATION MAST AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE ON PORTION 18 OF FARM DOORNPOORT 295 JR, PYRAMID SOUTH, GAUTENG

Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) was granted Environmental Authorisation (EA) from the National Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) for the installation of a high radio telecommunication mast and associated infrastructure within the fenced Central Train Control (CTC) area at Pyramid South, Pretoria, Gauteng in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA, No. 107 of 1998). The EA was granted on the 3rd of December 2020 and received on the 7th of December 2020, and will remain valid for a 10 year period from the date of issue. For reasons of the decision by the competent authority refer to Annexure 1 of the EA, page 11.

Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) are afforded a 20-day period to lodge an appeal against this decision from the date of notification. However, According to the NEMA National Appeals Regulations (2014, as amended) “the period of 15 December to 5 January must be excluded from the reckoning of days.” The 20-day appeals period will therefore run from 11 December 2020 to 22 January 2021.

Should you wish to lodge an appeal this against decision, please submit the appeal to the appeals administrator within the time period(s) stipulated above. A copy of the notice of intention to appeal must also be served to the applicant, all registered interested and affected parties as well as any organ of state with an interest in the matter.
