Port of Mossel Bay Strategic Environmental Assessment
A Strategic Environmental Assessment is being developed for the Port of Mossel Bay to ensure that development opportunities within the Port of Mossel Bay, as identified in the Port Development Framework Plan (PDFP), are undertaken within an environmentally responsible framework. The primary objectives of this SEA for the Port of Mossel Bay is to identify, describe and assess the following key aspects:
- The probable significant social and natural environmental effects of the implementation of the development opportunities for the Port as identified in the PDFP.
- The priority environmental and social constraints that have a significant impact on the port development plans within the Port.
- The opportunities for the proposed port development plans for the Port that will enhance both environmental and social performance of the Port.
- The pre-assessment of potential applicable environmental permits that will be required for all potential development opportunities in the Port. This will assist in facilitating a streamlined permitting and licencing strategy, while ensuring the highest level of environmental protection is achieved.
