Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) the ‘Applicant’), is proposing to install and operate a 22 MW output dual fuel (diesel and LNG) generator and associated infrastructure for the Port of Saldanha, located near the town of Saldanha, in Saldanha Bay Local Municipality within the West Coast, Western Cape. The proposed projects trigger, among others, Activity 2, 4 and 6 of Listing Notice 2 of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA, Act 107 of 1998, as amended) Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 (as amended), and therefore requires Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (S&EIA) processes to be undertaken.
TNPA has appointed CES Environmental and Social Advisory Services, to undertake the required S&EIA Processes in order to determine and mitigate the biophysical, social and economic impacts associated with the proposed development.
The Draft Environmental Impact Assessment Report will be available for a review and comment period from the 5th December 2024 until the 27th January 2025.
