Lilly pipeline gas transmission connection, Richards Bay, City of uMhlathuze, KwaZulu Natal Province

Vopak Terminal Durban (Pty) Ltd, together with Transnet Pipelines (TPL) have entered into a Joint Venture (JV) agreement to develop and operate a new high pressure (~90-100 barg MAOP), 30” diameter transmission pipeline to supply natural gas from the Port of Richards Bay to the Lilly Pipeline. The JV has been registered as Zululand Energy Terminal (Pty) Ltd. Zululand Energy Terminal (ZET) is the Applicant for the proposed development.

Coastal and Environmental Service (CES) has been appointed by Zululand Energy Terminal (ZET) (Pty) Ltd (the Applicant) as the independent environmental impact assessment practitioner (EAP) to undertake the Basic Assessment Process for the proposed new gas transmission pipeline to connect the port of Richards Bay to the Lilly Pipeline infrastructure within the City of uMhlathuze Local Municipality, King Cetshewayo District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal Province.

The Draft Basic Assessment Report will be available for a review and comment period from the 03rd of February 2025 until the 06th of March 2025.
