Proposed new Maintenance Management Plan and revised Dredging Maintenance Management Plan for maintenance and dredging
activities to be undertaken in the sea and from a distance of 100 m inland of the High-Water Mark (HWM) at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, Western Cape Province
Eskom Holdings SOC Limited (Eskom) wishes to undertake maintenance and dredging activities in terms of two Maintenance Management Plans (MMPs). For this purpose, Eskom appointed WSP Group Africa (Pty) Ltd and Coastal and Environmental Services (Pty) Ltd. (CES) respectively to prepare and finalise a MMP to cover all possible future maintenance activities undertaken in the sea and a distance of 100 m inland of the High-Water Mark (HWM) at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station (KNPS), involving temporary structures / infrastructure and movement of material (including repairs to the breakwater).
In addition, dredging activities undertaken are already managed through a separate approved Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) which requires updating. Part of this updating process will see the renaming of this EMPr to a MMP as necessitated by legislative changes.
