Maclean RE Project (Pty) Ltd the ‘Applicant’, is proposing the development of the Macleantown Wind Energy Facility (WEF) and associated infrastructure approximately 1.5 km north-west of the town of Macleantown within the Amahlathi Local Municipality. The proposed Macleantown WEF triggers various listed activities in terms of the NEMA EIA Regulations (2014, as amended) in Listing Notices 1, 2 and 3, and consequently requires a Scoping & Environmental Impact Assessment. The WEF will be located on 17 farms and will of comprise 43 wind turbines with a combined total output of 350 MW.
Maclean RE Project (Pty) Ltd has appointed CES Environmental and Social Advisory Services, to undertake the required S&EIA Processes in order to determine and mitigate the biophysical, social and economic impacts associated with the proposed development.
The Draft Environmental Impact Assessment Report has been submitted to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment (DFFE) for a decision regarding authorisation to proceed to the Environmental Impact Assessment phase of the application.
